3 podium places in the 3 NATIONSCUP MTB FINALSGepubliceerd op: 17 september 2018
SITTARD – Last Sunday, Milan Vader, Kevin Panhuyzen and Isla Short took their podium places at the challenging track of Watersley Sports and Talent Park in the south of Limburg, Netherlands. Anton Cooper from New Zealand won gold for the men. Dutch Sophie von Berswordt-Wallrabe took the first place for the women.
At halve past twelve the final started for the ladies. Isla Short took her place in the leading group from the start and could hold on to that the entire race. The Scot shared her first feeling after the race: “I feel relieved, it’s the first race since three months that I’ve been able to push the whole way and I felt quite strong and felt myself again, so I’m just really happy that I could be in the race and become third.”

Milan Vader was also satisfied about becoming second for men: “After a bad result in Lenzerheide last week, I’m happy that I have a place on the podium. Of course, it would be amazing if I took the gold medal, especially because Watersley Sports and Talent Park is practically my backyard. Anton Cooper, who ended in the top 10 of the World Cup, is good rider.” Vader ended 25th at the World Cup in Lenzerheide last week.
Behind Milan was Kevin Panhuyzen, who held on to that and so he took the third place. Kevin is also very glad about winning a bronzed medal. “Because I had a bad start, I assigned myself to pursuit everyone. In the second round I was able to catch up. I almost joined Milan, but he was a bit to strong, so I had to hang on at third place. Hereafter, it was just the matter of keeping the same tempo up and race my way to the podium.”
Watersley Sports and Talent Park has a beautiful, diverse bikers track, so the biker is challenged to outface the natural height differences of south Limburg.
A few of our sponsors, together without Habitat Mountainbiketeam, have explored the competition track by mountainbike. This was a great opportunity for a challenge for some of them. This sportive test result in knowing the most beautiful spots to see our team racing on the mountainbike track on Sunday.
