Blaza 2th in the Cyprus sunshine cup in Voroklini

Voroklini: Blaza Klemenčič takes silver medal and 2th place overall ranking in the Cyprus sun shine cup. The second and last stage of Cyprus Sunshine Cup in Voroklini ended up in a success story for the Feenstra squad. Blaza Klemenčič (Slo)saw Jolanda Neff (Switzerland) take the win in Voroklini. ,, I’m happy to race for my new team and reach the podium to show my appreciation to our sponsors’’, told the new Feenstra-Felt p/b Kenda rider.

In the men's race, the victory was for Ondrej Cink from the Czech Republic. Ruben Scheire and Robby de Bock again succeeded to battle themselves within the top-20. In the strong field of participants they got 15th and 17th. Thijs Zuurbier came in on 24th and our youngster Gosse van der Meer got 53rd.

Men´s race

Ondrej Cink could take the win in front of Jan Skarnitzl. 15the place went to Ruben Scheire. Before that, Ruben Scheire had suffered from a bad start and felt back. Sometime later he struggled to get back in front got hold on the 12 rank. However this effort was too much so he had to drop 3 places in the final round.
Behind them both, Robby de Bock reached the 17th rank and left Thijs Zuurbier and left him on a 24th rank behind.

Team mate Gosse van der Meer finished 53 overall and Roy Beukers was a bit unlucky about having an off day and being pulled out of the race due to the 80% UCI regulation earlier.

Overall classification

In the overall classification of the Cyprus Sunshine Cup it was the same Czech double win. Cink first time took the orange jersey. Neff first punctures and then chases successful
In a tight finish in the women’s race, Jolanda Neff (Sui) was just able to pass Blaza to take her second CSC win. Third spot on the podium went to Gunn-Rita Dahle-Flesjaa (Nor). Blaza finished second overall in the CSC overall rankings.

Women´s race

The second victory of Jolanda Neff (Liv Pro XC) within a week, obviously was deserved. The 21 years old u23 world champion punctured in the first of four complete laps.
Jolanda Neff fought back and already in the following lap she had reached the leading ones. In the third lap, Neff and Blaza Klemenčič (Feenstra-Felt) went away, Gunn-Rita Dahle-Flesjaa (Multivan-Merida) followed eight seconds behind and Maja Wloszczowska (Liv Pro XC) with 15 seconds more.
Neff and Klemenčič increased the gap and in the last downhill it came up to an exciting finish. Klemenčič was leading and Neff not able to pass, even she probably could go faster.
They reached the asphalt and there a fast corner. “Blaza took the outside line and found the gap to pass her”, Neff explained how it came down to the decision. “I felt pretty strong in the uphill and it was okay in the downhill. But Jolanda, she is so fast in the downhill, I had no chance”, Klemenčič confirmed.
Young Lisa Mitterbauer (Aut) finished 14th overall and thereby third in the lady’s U23 category. Nine times world champion Gunn-Rita Dahle-Flesjaa made this comment on her race: “I felt strong, but I am not in shape. Of course, I should be happy to make it on the podium, but the body is not so far. I had to control myself and ride on strength. It went pretty well in the uphill and in the technical parts. First podium gives me motivation, it was a good fight with the girls”.
