Drachten, (February 7th 2014) – Feenstra, a Dutch environmental control company, and Kenda tires continue their partnered project to present a Pro Mountain Bike Team for 2014.
The new 2014 UCI Team will race on the latest Felt Edict Nine and Felt Nine C hardtail bikes equipped with the best Bike Components from our partners: KMC Chains, Stan's No-Tubes, SRAM, Full Spead Ahead, Prologo and Kenda Tires.
"This is a further milestone in the development of an exciting project" said Team Feenstra-Felt powered by Kenda Manager Maarten Kemperman. "Feenstra-Felt powered by Kenda demonstrates our expanding commitment to pro mountain bike racing as we build a truly world-class team." KENDA tires International marketing manager Uwe Daniel said, "Feenstra-Kenda continues the racing heritage of Kenda at the top of off-road racing. It's the perfect way to showcase our technology and test new treads, rubber compounds and tires at the leading edge of performance and competition."
The team is an exciting blend of young international talent and more experienced professionals. Up-and-coming riders Blaža Klemenčič from Slovenia, Lisa Mitterbauer from Austria and Robby de Bock and Ruben Scheire of Belgium lead the team for 2014. Klemenčič posted an impressive 2th place earlier at the European championships in the Woman Elite Category and has taken part two times at the Olympics and Ruben Scheire came second in the highly competitive Belgian national cross country championship for the Under-23 riders. They join Dutch sensation Thijs Zuurbier Men U23, Gosse van der Meer Men U23, Roy Beukers Men U23 and one other to-be-announced top Scandinavian hopeful, who will be introduced at the Feenstra-Felt powered by Kenda media launch on March 21th at the team’s base in Holland.
The eight-rider team's long-term vision and goal is success at the mountain bike cross country event in the 2016 Olympic Games at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. As part of the holistic initiative to place riders on the Olympic Team for 2016 Team Feenstra-Felt_powered by Kenda has enlisted professional trainer and former top triathlete Rob Barel and sports psychology consultant Bart Boogaard. Sporting operations for the team will be managed by Robert Pintaric. "Robert brings many years of pro-sport experience into the team. With him we can further professionalize." Said overall Sport management Team manager, Maarten Kemperman.
Straight from the beginning Blaža Klemenčič provided the first podium by getting 2th in the Lanzarote stage race.
New for the team is the Service Course in Drachten, the Netherlands and having a British Team License. “This will strengthen our international participating ability’s and the team more easily enter the British Mountain bike series that still has a tremendous positive impulse after the 2012 Olympics.” Mentioned Team manager Maarten Kemperman
Further on the Team is in concluding phase with one of Europe’s largest Alp-regions in Austria.
The Team can train here under the most optimal conditions such as altitude training, downhill training etc., And, be near the centre of the international MTB-Race Scene. This ‘Team Base’ is also a perfect environment to bring press and sponsors close to the team for marketing events. Or for testing new products. The region will be unveiled at the Team presentation.
