Tough luck in New ASO Mountain bike event. Even before the weekend started our guys were active riding races on Friday.
Ruben, Robby, Gosse and Roy competed in the XC race at the Roc d’ Ardenne event in Houffalize.
This year the organiser of Roc d’ Azur and the Tour the France ASO adopted management of the famous race scene of Houffalize in Walloon Belgium. ASO made quite an effort putting a hugged event together with all kind of MTB Races, an exhibition and a marathon.
Again well set-up. Although we have our thoughts of the moment because Bike Festival Riva and Haiming took place in the same weekend. This caused some logistic difficulties for the team to be active in all events.
Well the races started promising. Robby and Ruben did quite a good effort riding in 2th and 6th position in the Men Elite Race. Robby however suffered a technical and had some delay in the tech-zone getting his bike fixed. As soon as he was back in the race he fought for every position, finally finishing 13th rank.
Ruben moved up one spot and finished 5th. The race was won by Swedish champion Matthias Wengeling.
At 5 pm Gosse and Roy started their race. For Gosse it was his first encounter with such a technical race track and got a flat tire in one of many steep technical sections.
Just in front of him was Roy who had to aboard his mission for a fine result in the Men U23 race. As he saw Gosse entering he gave him his front wheel, so Gosse could finish his race in 19th position.
